Jerte Picota Cherries are in UK stores very soon!

Get ready for Jerte Picotas, the delicious Spanish cherries which will be in UK stores very soon. The Jerte Cherry Protected Designation of Origin Regulatory Board recently announced that they will arrive in the UK on the 20th June, which is only a few days away!

Jerte Picota Cherries are the ultimate summer fruit this year, especially since they arrive in the UK so close to the Summer Solstice (21st June). However, they will only be around until approximately the first week of August due to their natural harvest, so don’t miss out on buying a few punnets (weekly!) for that burst of delicious sweetness.

Jerte Picota Cherries are the main variety of cherry that are grown in the Jerte Valley in Spain. They are produced in a natural, traditional way without any extra additives which gives them a deliciously unique flavour and a high vitamin content. After careful selection, only the best cherries are chosen and hand-picked one-by-one into chestnut baskets for consumers.

Jerte Picota Cherries are a PDO product which means they have to be produced in a certain region, in this case the Jerte Valley which lies South-West of Madrid in the Cáceres region. This guarantees a high-quality product and protects the consumers and producers.

With their unique flavour and juiciness, they are the perfect cherry to put in your desserts, cakes, main courses and starters. They are even better eaten by themselves whilst lying in the summer sun.

Get excited for those stalkless tasty cherries in local superstores from the 20th June! They’ll be easy to spot – just look for the red and yellow PDO logo that accompanies each punnet of cherries. The countdown has begun!
