In the north of Extremadura, the Jerte Valley is famous for its cherry blossoms in spring. An incredible natural spectacle, with more than two million trees dyeing its slopes white.
Between May and June, farmers pick their cherries, following a centuries-old family tradition. They are cultivated by hand in terraces, carved out of the mountains. They grow among crystalline springs and pure air. Only in such a unique environment, with a privileged microclimate, can the best cherries in Spain be grown.

From May until June, in the Jerte Valley, you can participate in the traditional cherry picking, chestnut basket in hand, side by side with the farmers of the area, just like centuries ago.
There is a program of activities called “La Cerecera“, with tastings, gastronomic days, tastings, visits to the cherry museum…

In autumn, the leaves of the cherry trees dye the mountains of ocher tones and enjoy the cultural and gastronomic activities of the festival of “La otoñada”. In summer, “Cerecera” is celebrated and, in spring, the cherry blossom.
