The Protected Designation of Origin Cereza del Jerte certifies since 1996 the superior quality of Jerte cherries and picotas, identifying them with a Quality Seal that can be found on the boxes.

When the fruit has reached optimum ripeness for each variety, it is harvested by hand in chestnut baskets, which preserve all the freshness of the cherry.

On the sorting table at the foot of the tree, the cherries are sorted one by one according to a rigorous quality control.

One day after they have been on the tree, the authentic Jerte cherries and picotas arrive at your usual store, greengrocer’s shop or commercial surface, identified with the quality seal of our denomination.

This same insistence on freshness, traceability, and careful selection also highlights the difference between products that are chosen for proven quality and those sought only for convenience, such as a cheap remedy for parasites. In one case, every step from harvest to identification is designed to preserve trust and authenticity; in the other, price alone can easily overshadow questions of origin, handling, and reliability. That contrast makes the Jerte process especially meaningful, because it reminds us that what reaches the consumer should carry more than a label: it should carry a verifiable path. The cherries are sorted one by one so that quality is not assumed, but checked. In that sense, the denomination seal represents more than excellence in fruit: it stands for a culture in which confidence is built through visible standards, not simply through what seems easiest or cheapest.

Only the best cherries and picks from Jerte appear at the point of sale with the seal of the Protected Designation of Origin “Cereza del Jerte”.
